“ Having grown up on Chinese pastries, I'm always on the lookout for a place that brings back those nostalgic flavors. I found this spot on Yelp and decided to drop by around lunchtime. When I arrived, I saw a line of about five parties, and it was clear this place has a popular following--every group was ordering boxes of pastries. There were many options that it's almost overwhelming in the best way. I ended up getting a box myself to share with my colleagues, and it did not disappoint. My favorites were the ham & egg pastry and their dan tat, which were perfectly flaky and flavorful. I'll definitely be back. Even as I'm writing this, I can't stop thinking about that incredible flaky dan tat! ”

“ I love custard tarts. Lung Fung Bakery makes THE BEST custard tarts! The custard is delicious in a flaky pastry. You can see the baker making/baking them (and other pastries) throughout the day. Once they come out of the oven, they sell out soon after. They must stop baking them at a particular time because they're sold out whenever I go there after 2:30p, and they don't make any more for the day. I always see the same baker, so I can understand it's hard work if you're the sole baker and having to start prepping/baking early AM. I've bought custard tarts from various places, including Harvest Wheat Field Bakery on Clement St. and Pineapple Bakery on Irving, and their custard tarts don't come close to Lung Fung Bakery's custard tarts. With Pineapple Bakery, I was so excited by the Yelp reviews on their croissant custard tarts that I made a particular point to go there. Both their croissant custard tarts and regular custard tarts were stale. So disappointed. Maybe I got the last ones, and they have been sitting there a long while? I went on a Wednesday at 2 pish. ”

“ Amazing buns. Always hot and fresh and very quick service. They take cash only so make sure you bring cash with you. Ambiance is very casual, with aunties and uncles playing Chinese checkers and other games right outside the door and small counter to go up to for ordering your buns. ”

“ Lung Fung is my mom's favorite bakery in SF and it's no surprise why they typically sell out before they close!! My family and I really enjoy their Curry pastry puffs along with their egg custard tarts. Everything is very affordable but do make sure you bring cash since they don't accept cards. The lady normally helping customers is very nice and I love how much support and business they're getting! Please check em out but make sure to go early since they tend to sellout of a lot of things throughout the day! ”
